The hotel has been owned by Vincentians throughout its long history. Its employees are all Vincentian and the hotel has always been a favourite with travelers throughout the Caribbean. With the addition of modern conveniences, such as air conditioning, internet access, satellite TV, a swimming pool and sports complex, the hotel now appeals to a diverse group of international travelers, both business-minded and vacationers.
We have always prided itself on its commitment to conservation in an island environment where resources are limited. Our wind-powered well is used to refill our pool & water our herb garden. Laundry is hand-washed and line-dried with minimal use of detergents. Pool water is pumped from the hotel's own well, conserving the public water supply, and water to all rooms is solar-heated.
We conserve electricity by using power saving light bulbs in all corridors, office materials and paper are recycled and the majority of foods used in the hotel's restaurants are locally grown or produced and fair trade items are used where available.
The hotel is actively involved with government agencies to implement better environmental practices. To this end, the owners are currently researching the use of wind and solar generated power.
Guests are encouraged to visit local cultural sites and use public transportation, which is available throughout the island. Guests are also educated about conservation and encouraged to use positive environmental practices like turning off their air conditioning when not in their rooms.
