The hotel has a large number of carbon-reducing measures and as such has won a variety of environmental initiative awards.

Internal and external gardens are fitted with a water saving slow drip irrigation system with timer
Sourcing of locally grown ingredients where possible for use in the kitchen
Community
The hotels group is a firm believer in supporting the local community and as such sponsors a variety of community events such as Cracker Night and the Fremantle Araluen Chilli Festival. It operates a restaurant referral system directing guests to a number of local restaurants. In addition, it supports local arts including FotoFreo, a bi-annual international photography festival and the Fremantle Festival, and regularly supports charity events with in-kind contributions.
