How this vacation makes a difference

This is a project of Berber people as its very important to us that people can get to know and experience the Berber culture. Our hotel is a Berber house and is not exclusive for tourists, all time we are visited by other people in the village and therefore creating constant contact between people of Europe and Africa. This is very important for the local people because they can see that they have a culture that many people are interested to know.

Around the Kasbah live some families without water in their houses. Water has to be collected from the river but now they can come to the Kasbah to use the facilities.

We have built the Kasbah using traditional materials, earth and water in order to conserve the landscape, leaving no permanent structures. This system of construction also means that we do not need to use machines of acclimatisation that use a lot of energy. A house built of earth also demonstrates to the local people that a house of earth is not a factor of wealth and the vacations homes built out of cement.

We have begun a project with the school children in the Atlas Mountains. They have an excess of bag plastic bags and a lack of books, pencils and paper. In order that the children learn that things have a price rather than just asking tourists to give them something for free – we will swap school materials in return for the plastic that they collect which will also help to clean up the environment. The most important factor is that all the benefits of this hotel stay in the local community.
