Our Cairngorms bed & breakfast accommodation has been awarded Gold standard in the Scottish Green Tourism Business Scheme. We were the first B and B or Guest House within the Cairngorms National Park to reach this level. We have now retained this award on 2 subsequent bi-annual audit visits. This recognises the efforts that we go to reduce our impact on the local community and wider environment. This effort has led to us being shortlisted for a Gold Star award which the GTBS award as part of the now annual Green Tourism Week.
These measures include our extensive use of organic and Fair Trade produce, only using eco cleaning products, using energy saving light bulbs, purchasing A++,A+, & A energy rated appliances and supporting our local suppliers. We reduce our waste to the extent of having 7 compost bins and recycling/reusing all the items that we can – plastic bottles make excellent water feeders in the veg patch and bird feeders in the garden.
In November 2011 we installed PV Solar Panels to generate renewable electric, and in January 2012 we changed our heating & hot water system to a biomass (wood pellet) boiler, so further reducing our carbon footprint.
If you arrive by train or coach we will collect you in our eco friendly Toyota Prius, just one of our on going contributions to reduce our overall impact to the environment.
Part of the garden of our Cairngorms bed & breakfast accommodation is a wildlife area, there are rotting logsto create habitation for insects to live in, along with our natural as possible pond. Our grass and wild flower area has been extended to further encourgage this. In our vegetable garden we grow whenever possible, plants from organic seeds and use organic methods in our gardening and we hope to eventually be certified organic.
While a guest at our Cairngorms bed & breakfast accommodation you can take many walks or bike rides right from the door, walk on the way marked paths, enjoy the climb through the Black Wood to see the Dun Da Lamh (Pictish Fort) with the amazing views down the 2 glens, or take the easy forest path to the abandoned village of Druim an Aird. Our local forest has recently been listed as a Red Squirrel Hot Spot and we can provide our guests with lots of advise on where that is and how more wildlife can be seen close by to us.

We invite every traveler who books a vacation via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the vacations they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same vacation can have different views!
