In 2006 we were awarded a Green Island Tourism award of Gold standard. This is the top-level sustainable tourism certificate and indicates excellent environmental, economic & social performance across all ten awards criteria; energy, water, waste, purchasing, customer experience, wildlife & landscape, innovation, marketing & management and transport.
Our laundry machines wash at the eco-friendly temperature of 30 degrees. We encourage our guests to reuse their towels to reduce the amount of laundry produced. We have installed loft insulation to reduce heat loss.
We recycle our glass bottles and paper. And use low wattage lighting within health and safety limits. And use smaller kettles in the rooms cutting down on electricity.
We offer a healthy working environment for our staff. We endeavour to employ a number of our staff all year round even though ours is a seasonal business. We support local charity events annually within the hotel. We are involved in a scheme that is promoting a greener Island by planting flowers on what was previously unkempt ground.
We invite every traveler who books a vacation via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the vacations they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same vacation can have different views!
