Essaouira was easily the most relaxing part of our vacation. The accommodation was a lovely place to stay for a few days and Paolo, Hakin and Naima looked after us very well.

The Gambian people were probably the most memorable part of a trip which included many exciting moments including spotting amazing birds, holding snakes, watching the fiddler crabs in the mangrove swamps and seeing wild baboons.

Imlil was absolutely breathtaking, everywhere you looked was stunning, the accommodation, scenery, mountains, people were all incredible. We arrived on a very cold afternoon, by evening snow was falling and by morning there was 4 inches of snow!

The walk is simply spectacular with magnificent views over the escarpment every step of the way....The people are really lovely and very welcoming and we found it an extraordinary privilege to meet them and learn about their lives.

Arriving at the accommodation and watching the sun set over the medina from the terrace. Stumbling through the vacation in broken French (although most Moroccans speak several languages). Exploring the souks and markets. Eating the most amazing
Moroccan food (personal favourite: kefta et oeuf tajine).

The camel ride to the dinner at the Bedouin tent; dinner at the tent; and the night in the "desert" were the most memorable parts.

The hotel was a wonderful find!! It is beautiful, and all the staff without
exception were very friendly, and helpful - I don't think "NO" is a word they
ever use to their guests!!!!

Being introduced to local people and getting the chance to understand at least a bit about life in that area. The game drives were delightful, food delicious, the lodge comfortable and we were looked after with great hospitaliy and charm.

A perfect blend of farniente (quiet, relaxing, beautiful setting, great staff) and education (fauna, flora, history of the country, local development projects). A truly wonderful experience!

Absolutely amazing. I would recommend this area to anyone looking for ultimate relaxation in beautiful untouched surroundings, where you feel at home amongst the local people.

Fantastic trip, which I have waited 50 years to do... Meeting local people, being invited to their homes and seeing the country as they see it and not just as a tourist.

Traveling in a dug out canoe on the river between The Gambia and Senegal amongst the mangroves and seeing so much bird life was the most exciting part.

Thanks for including the lodge on your website. We would never have taken the five day desert safari without it as our destination. Our highlight of the trip was taking a half day camel trip into the sand hills behind the lodge. The camel guides and camels were great.

The most memorable part was drinking banana beer whilst talking politics with the locals in a bar in the village.

It was just incredible- I honestly, honestly mean that and I can be very hard to please! I will never forget it and have come home feeling more rested and content than I have ever been before. It was the best start to married life for us we could have possibly had.

The campfires on the beach which were lit when anyone was leaving after a week's stay. The fabulous staff played traditional drums and we watched shooting stars, under the stars, whilst dancing and singing.

Visiting the nearby village was a real eye-opener and an experience I could not have obtained any other way in a short vacation of three weeks in Tanzania. The Barbours were most welcoming and kind and I felt part of the family.

The hospitality of people, in spite of their limited resources, the mentality of sharing, the smiles, the friendly attitude, I enjoyed all of this thoroughly.
