The most memorable part were the ...scones on arrival (they were the best I have ever tasted!), walking around the beautiful country side and the farm...

Excellent - a lovely place to stay, the owner and team were so helpful, I would highly recommend it.

From our arrival by boat through the mangroves through to our departure three days later, we loved our time at the lodge. We were the only guests staying there at the time and we received a high level of care from owners Dan and Holly.

The bedroom we chose was magic and I'll never forget going down the escarpment garden to the cliff walk at the bottom - that was brilliant. This accommodation completely excelled itself with the hamper and goodies that were provided.

We had such wonderful, exciting and relaxing time, made possible by the beautiful nature, the perfectly designed accommodation, perfectly integrated with the surrounding environment and most of all by the great effort, the hard work, the touching kindness and the relentless but unobtrusive enthusiasm of Porridge and Jeanelle and of all the other people. They made our vacation truly unforgettable.

There were lots of memorable parts of the vacation. I loved just sitting on a cliff or a beach gazing at the wild Atlantic breakers, I loved the lush sub-tropical vegetation & flowers, and I found the excursions to Sintra fascinating.

Our vacation was a dream come true. Owner, Keith has built the whole place by hand with logs he found on the nearby beaches. What he has done is remarkable and his wife Randi adds the special touches that make the place really feel like being home.

It is a hiker's paradise and the staff arrange for guides for hikers and those choosing to go by horseback. The facilities are gorgeous and home-cooked dinners are wonderful.

Searching for whales, being greeted by dolphins, snorkelling above seahorses leave a warm fuzzy feeling inside. I feel truly privileged to have been a part of the ecolodge and Dominican way of life, even if it was just for 2 weeks.

The richness of the wildlife surprised us every day. One morning we saw dolphins swimming along the shore. Another dawn we came upon a sea turtle laying her eggs.

It is so hard to pinpoint the best part; it was all a fabulous experience. This is a place where you can completely relax and refresh your mind, body and soul.

I hesitate to write this review for selfish reasons. Why? Because this vacation is so wonderful I'd rather keep it a secret! Situated on the southern slopes of Mt Batakaru in remotest Bali, this place is a pocket of paradise, far removed from the ravages of the 21st century. Having spent a week there I did not want to leave.

The rooms are very private, and look our directly onto the Ocean - we watched a big lightning storm come in as if we were all alone in the world.

A perfect blend of farniente (quiet, relaxing, beautiful setting, great staff) and education (fauna, flora, history of the country, local development projects). A truly wonderful experience!

It was really a beautiful lodge, wonderful staff, food, kayaking, yoga, massages. I totally loved it. Also, the other guests were great.

Being introduced to local people and getting the chance to understand at least a bit about life in that area. The game drives were delightful, food delicious, the lodge comfortable and we were looked after with great hospitaliy and charm.

'Eco' and 'eco-lodges' have become buzzwords used by both terrific organisations dedicated to conservation and benefitting local people, and those seeking to exploit its marketing potential for economic gain with little or no regard for destinations. Without getting into the intracies of composting toilets how can the tourist decide between the genuine and the not so genuine?
