Pyrenees caravan park & campsite
Excellent. There is something quite magical about the site. Not sure if it is the caravans, the scenery, or Perry and Collene. Either way, we came away refreshed, and for the first time ever, we are really considering going back rather than continually finding new places to visit. (more)

This really was the best vacation we have ever had, we have struggled in the past to find somewhere that everyone enjoys which is difficult with young active children, but this accommodation and Ithaca really did mean we relaxed and enjoyed time with them whilst they also had a great time. None of us wanted to leave and we will definitely go back.  (more)

Loire Valley self catering farm cottage, France

Provence boutique hotel in Arles, France
Our room was a good size, air con (we were there in August) and clean. The pool was just right too. Location is excellent - far better than being in one of the towns. Meals are eaten outside in the evenings and several (including us) suggested they modified the lighting. (more)

"It is a shame that once children arrive on the scene, plenty of once intrepid campers seem reluctant to venture far from home. Parents face a common dilemma. Whilst there is no doubt getting the kids outdoors can make for lifelong memories - the question is, will they be good memories? You may wonder whether taking the kids camping is worth the extra effort and planning, or whether only choosing kid-friendly is worth denying yourself the camping experience. I started camping with my son George when he was just two. Having set up tent in the New Forest, Spain and as far away as Up State New York I have come across plenty of families prepared to give it a go. Like them, it took just a little forethought to make our trip enjoyable and easy." Find out more about camping with kids in Helen Truszkowski's family vacations article.
