Responsible tourism: Durango adventure tours in Colorado, USA
We love the outdoors just as much as we love showing people around, and we fully recognise our responsibility to carry out steps to ensure that the areas we explore can be preserved, and biodiversity maintained. The fast waters mean that all you need to get from A to B is a raft and a paddle, nature will do the rest! We switch sections of the river to minimise impact and guides always ensure that guests understand the importance of keeping the outdoors free of litter.
Our jeeps operate on maintained trails and our guides are fully trained on how to handle ecologically sensitive areas and ensure that impact to the land and disturbance to wildlife is minimised. There's an opportunity to learn about the ecology of different areas and spot amazing wildlife including marmots, mule deer, elk herds, juncos, kingfishers, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks and bald eagles. You could also see numerous wildflowers, high-alpine meadows and avalanche gullies. All of the guides working across all activities are trained way beyond the state's requirements, and are each passionate about the outdoors.
There is a strong community here and its evident in the relationships between businesses and local people. We work with other tourism related businesses to offer packages to people living in and visiting Durango. One that is very popular with guests wanting to see the area's fantastic scenery and learn about its heritage in the Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad Train. We've teamed up with them to offer river, trail and rail adventure packages and believe that good relationships between different attraction providers are beneficial for everyone!
There are lots of great things happening in Durango and we'd definitely recommend sticking around for a few nights to explore all that the area has to offer, from spectacular canyons, the Animas River and beautiful National Forests. With a visit to a protected site or a museum you can help to preserve the local area's heritage and the environment in a fun and enjoyable way! Durango is also full of fantastic restaurants, so be sure to sample some of Colorado's best cuisine while you're here. We're happy to recommend accommodations, nearby places to eat or other activities you might enjoy during your stay, just get in touch!
