Responsible tourism: Telluride arts & community centre, Colorado, USA
We're an EcoAction certified Green Business and have been assessed on our sustainability efforts. We will continue to maximise our Energy Efficiency & Conservation, Waste Reduction, Water Conservation whilst providing people with a base to explore the wonderful outdoor environment that surrounds us.
Our work with EcoAction to create a community that can enhance its self reliance to ensure a sustainable future. We are committed to running our organisation in the most sustainable way possible and we hope that consciousness of protecting the environment can be passed on throughout the community and to visitors too.
Those who love looking at beautiful landscapes and want to learn how to create an images to last forever can take part in a landscape painting workshop. Telluride’s 360-degree views offer an amazing portal into landscape painting. Painting en plein air, students will immerse themselves in the beauty of the landscape and learn to appreciate its natural beauty in a new way.
Without support from members of the community, our trustees and sponsors the centre wouldn't exist! We believe the arts are vital to our local community, and through support we can continue to run low cost classes and workshops to bring inspiration and creativity to people of all ages.
The Ah Haa School Board of Directors is comprised of exceptional individuals who share a passion for the arts and a desire to see one of Telluride’s oldest institutions continue to succeed. They bring their vision and expertise to the school, helping in numerous ways, from hands-on help in setting up a gallery exhibit, to practical advice on building maintenance or finance, and fundraising. We're a 'for the people' organisation, and we offer opportunities for people to pay for classes with volunteering hours. We don't want anyone to be excluded from the work the school does just because they can't afford it, and by offering a Workstudy program where students can earn $15 per hour credit towards class tuition in exchange for work done for the school, everyone who wants to can be involved.
We offer work and teaching opportunities for local people as well as Internships to support artistic talent. We offer hands on experience of working in a non-profit, arts environment and an opportunity to spend a summer in the beautiful surroundings of Telluride!
