How this vacation makes a difference

Environment

The Swan River Tour is making its mark by partnering with experts, enhancing the passengers appreciation for the Swan River’s flora and fauna, wildlife, colonial and indigenous history and unique ecology. To help us develop this product we are currently working on a unique partnership with local expert organizations and individuals.

The craft is built for environmental cruising – covered open air seating gives passengers up close and personal interactions with wildlife with minimal impact on the environment. The 12.5 meter vessel is powered by three 300 horsepower Mercury Verado supercharged 4-stroke engines. Electronically balanced, the three engines operate effectively at low revs with extremely high fuel efficiency with correspondingly low emissions.

Community

We have partnered with Indigenous Tours WA enabling passengers to experience and hear stories of local indigenous culture and taken back 40,000 years through the eyes of traditional landowners. We sort out the experts to bring alive ancient stories of the Swan River and such Indigenous Tours WA was brought into the mix. Indigenous Tours WA was created in 2004 by the Nannup family for the benefit of Indigenous Culture and Heritage. The Nannup possess a connection to Wadjuk country dating back thousands of years and has a passion for sharing and promotion of Indigenous Heritage and keeping their culture alive in the Perth metropolitan area. By partnering with this family we are able to give them a platform on which to share their stories and to keep their ancient traditions alive. The Swan River Dreaming stories are told through the eyes of a traditional landowner – Greg Nannup who has a special connection with the area.

We have also have sourced an organization which will provide us with up-to-date research and first-hand knowledge on the rivers flora, and fauna – the River Guardians a sub branch of the Swan River Trust. The aim of the River Guardians is to help protect and restore the rivers and their foreshores. In the near future part proceeds of tickets sold will go back to the River Guardians. Our belief is that once people have been given the correct information through actual people who have a connection with the land they are able to form a better understanding of the culture and heritage of the local people. and therefore have a greater respect for the local culture. The stories that are shared with passengers aim to build an understanding of aboriginal culture and heritage.
