Responsible tourism: Volunteering vacation in Mozambique
Suppliers & Buildings: For all of our projects in Mozambique, we source local builders and suppliers to build market stalls, creches and school rooms. We use materials sourced locally and avoid the use of rainforest timbers. Our buildings are made of local materials that can be easily repaired and maintained by the villagers. We work with the aim of helping village women stay close to their children in creches and schools nearby the market where they sell handmade crafts. All handicrafts are made from locally sourced and sustainable materials. This will provide an income for the mothers and care and education for their children.
Wildlife: by exposing our volunteers to the beauty and serenity of experiencing marine animals in their native and natural environment, we hope to enlighten and educate our volunteers on the importance of environmental conservation. These are values that can be taken home with them and transferred into their local community activities and attitudes.
Our organisation provides safe and fulfilling opportunities for you to work with village communities and bring real and lasting change to the lives of many. Volunteers undertake hands on work delivering valuable infrastructure in the areas of education, sanitation and water supply for the benefit of these communities.
Participation in our programs delivers a range of benefits to all participants. The villagers benefit from the new and refurbished infrastructure, the learning opportunities and the friendship and interactions with the volunteers. The volunteers take away a special sense of fulfillment in having made a contribution and a real difference to the lives of others.
In addition our volunteers often make lifelong friendships while involved in experiences that are invaluable in clarifying and assisting in future career goals.
Whenever possible we use local guides, labor and translators so as to add back to the community. We purchase all food and building supplies locally and as much as possible we use environmentally friendly materials.
We endeavour at all times to ensure that we work in as safe an environment as can possibly be arranged. All program venues and equipment are continually monitored to make sure that the highest possible levels of health and safety are met.
