Tailor made vacations
This trip can be tailor made to create a unique vacation for your individual requirements by travel experts with intimate knowledge of the destination. It is a more luxurious trip that will suit those who enjoy immersing themselves in new cultures and environments before relaxing in comfort. As this trip can be tailor made it would be helpful if you could you provide the following information: rough budget per person (stating with or without flights), your address and zipcode, contact phone number, preferred date of travel, length of trip, number of passengers, preferred countries and areas within those countries, specific interests & type of accommodation.

How this vacation makes a difference

We are pleased to have been recognised by a number of global awards as being one of the leading exponents of responsible travel. It is our aim that nothing which our company does abroad or at home compromises the environment and the wildlife or exploits the local people. We look for positive impact, so the money generated by tourism is helping locally. We don't ram these principles down your throat.

Fundamentally we want you to have an outstanding vacation, whether you are on a safari, trekking, or relaxing on the beach. But by traveling with us you can do this in the knowledge that we have put in the background research to make sure that your money is being put to good use.

On this trip we recommend the use of heritage properties in support of the cultural heritage of the built environment. Without tourism many fantastic buildings would have fallen into a sad state of dereliction. Money from tourism has helped regenerate these architectural masterpieces. We only use local Indian guides for this trip who have an in-depth knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, their country and their culture.

Flights are automatically carbon offset through The Travel Forest, which plants 10 indigenous trees on your behalf (currently in northern Tanzania). Whilst the primary motivation for planting the trees is to offset carbon emissions, the project also works as a poverty alleviation and environmental improvement scheme.

A very exciting and rewarding experience. We were impressed by the help we received from the operator when planning the vacation, and by the efficiency of the local travel company in India.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Seeing tigers in Ranthambore National Park. Watching the sunset on the Taj Mahal from the bar in the Oberoi Hotel in Agra. Going on a boat trip on the Ganges at Varanassi at sunrise… (the list is endless!)

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Use this operator to plan a very reasonably priced vacation to India - they were brilliant from start to finish.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

It did benefit local people in that we stayed in small hotels guest houses. We did have local guides and drivers which was great. Two weeks of drinking bottled water, using AC and having a private car did not do the environment any favours but that was the vacation we booked. Some of the places we stayed did give us treated water rather than plastic bottle which was good. I think that shopping options could have been better chosen re social/environmental credentials.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Absolutely brilliant.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Gosh tricky one, hard to pick. Delhi and Agra cities were noisy, chaotic and very colourful. But my favourite bits would be- Taj Mahal just stunning, mysterious and intoxicating. Kanha National Park incredible, getting to see Tigers in their natural environment just awesome! Staying at Marari Beach Kerela the perfect end to an action packed 10 days, a place as close to paradise as one could imagination.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Plan what areas you want to visit, discuss with your operator as to what you can see and do within the timeframe of your visit. They will have a better understanding of how feasible your plans are! Understand that India is a vast country be prepared for lots of traveling and living out of a suitcase. Take a good camera!!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes felt that where possible staff were employed from the local area, discussions where possible were held with the local community to ensure areas disturbed as little as possible, and that where possible something giving back to the local community not just jobs. For example Marari Beach help fund local families with buying of school uniforms and books if they cannot afford to themselves.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Incredible, awesome. Quite simply the most fantastic vacation of our lives. It was everything and so much more than we had hoped. Yes it was hectic and tiring but so rewarding. Really hope we get to go back at some point.

Finally a big thanks to the oganisers of our trip. Also to local staff in India whose staff met us on every leg of our trip and ensured that we got from a-b so smoothly.
