Responsible tourism: Tatras mountains winter vacation in Slovakia
Local Transfers Where it is practical we aim to offer our customers the option to use public transport such as buses or trains, in order to reach chosen activities instead of using private transfers. Not only is the impact on the environment minimized by using public transport, but travelers can also save a considerable amount of money. This money can then be spent on a nice dinner in a traditional restaurant or be used to buy a souvenir from a local shop. This way, travelers support the local economy even further and will certainly feel welcome and valued in the areas visited.
Group sizes As a company we offer you the option to get to know Slovakia in small groups. Traveling in small groups minimises the impact on the environment and maximises the experience.
Flying and Trains Slovakia has good rail connections to the rest of Europe and the UK via Paris. We therefore inform customers about traveling by train as an alternative to flying. Not only does traveling by train have a much smaller negative effect on the environment, traveling by train is often an added value to each tour and becomes a part of the vacation itself. Travelers get to see the country and avoid overcrowded departure and arrival airport halls and hassle at check in desks and around luggage collections.
Folklore and traditions: On this vacation you will visit the very unique outdoor museum of the Orava region consisting of over 50 dwellings. Here you will find traditional log houses, barns, school, workshops, water mill and even a fascinating wooden church with original organ dating back to the late 14th century where local people still have their weddings to this very day (amazing). This church is a real jewel of this village. Our local guide Richard that lives and works full time in the museum will tell you many interesting stories during your visit. The entrance fee to the museum is included in your vacation and by visiting this unique jewel of Slovakia you are directly helping the museum to preserve this heritage for future generations.
Local restaurants: During your vacation we also introduce you traditional local restaurants that we call KOLIBA in general. Those wooden family run restaurants offer delicious local specialities, homemade cheese and some of them even homemade beer. This you will be able to experience during one of your memorable walks through Kvacianska valley.
Accommodation: We believe that accommodation makes an important part of every vacation. You will be staying in locally owned accommodation. The staff consists of the family members and the locals from the village that will make you feel welcome each day.
Driver Laco: Our local driver Laco will safely take you to your activities every day. Laco together with his wife Katarina also runs a small patisserie shop so should you feel like having something sweet please ask you guide for directions.
Local guides: On this vacation you will be accompanied by our local guides Peter and Fero from Zuberec and possibly Magdalena from Bratislava that has fallen in love with the Slovak mountains and is now moving from the capital to the rural countryside. All of them are very passionate about Slovakia and will be there to show you the very best of the Western Tatras and the Orava region as a fascinating destination for winter vacation.
Dear friends, I am inviting you to Slovakia and to experience the very best that this region has to offer in particular. Should you require any more information please do not hesitate to ask. We are here for you.
