At regular intervals on this tour, you will learn how to make the food of the native Taino people, including kasav, which is eaten with meals as flatbread. Eating together with locals, you will learn more about how food has shaped the Haiti culture and you will be able to interact in a way which you would not on your typical tour vacation.

Jacmel is famous for its artists, beaches and celebrations, and our tour will take you through a number of artists’ studio to gain an understanding of how art fits into the Haitian culture and how it has been affected since the earthquake. For the duration of this trip, we ensure that our travelers keep the number of water bottles purchased to a minimum, while trying to refill the current bottle as much as possible. Your trip will include a visit to a local foundation called Art Creation Foundation for Children. Teaching children and young people tradition arts and crafts, the foundation is a means to keep them off the street and out of trouble. The children are mentored to become leaders in their community and are given meals in what is referred to as their ‘second home’. These amazing caverns have been kept a secret for a long time, and there are not many to have seen inside. Our guide will take you through the caves, explaining the environmental impact and facts surrounding the caves during the trip.
