Responsible tourism: Mont Blanc circuit trek, France, Switzerland & Italy
Both ourselves and our local agents are committed to preserving the natural environment. Walking tours are one of the most environmentally friendly ways to see this stunning area, using ‘human power’ rather than vehicles to get from A to B and thus significantly reducing the carbon-emissions required to see the area. This also enhances your experience of the region, allowing you to get to breath taking viewpoints and smell the sweet spring flowers. We carefully plan our tours to minimise the use of motorised transport for shopping trips and other errands. Our local agent’s ‘leave no trace’ policy is something that we take a great deal of pride in. Walkers that join our tours are also encouraged to do their bit, by carrying re-useable containers for water instead of plastic bottles that are thrown away after one use. We also encourage our walkers to support local businesses and take care not to damage or disturb local wildlife.
Both ourselves and our local ground agents are committed to giving back to the local communities that we visit on our tours, after all they are often what make our trips so great. Wherever possible, we use locally owned, family-run hotels and food and transport suppliers, as well as encouraging our walkers to eat out at local restaurants where available, giving back to the local people both financially and through cultural exchange. By buying locally, you contribute to the local economy in a positive way, as well as providing jobs for the local people. We also provide the opportunity to purchase local arts and crafts whilst you are on the during the trip, ensuring that not only do you get an authentic keep-sake to remember your vacation, but you are also contributing significantly to the provision of employment and the preservation of traditional practices in the region you are visiting.
