Environment

We are supporting the development of the Transcaucasian Trail, a planned trekking route across the region of Svaneti and the Caucasus mountains, with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism to bring support the conservation of wildlife and landscapes connecting national parks and ecosystems. The trekking route shall bring economic value to national parks and support the promotion and sustainable use of protected areas.
Our guides ensure that litter is correctly disposed of on any hiking routes and ensure that they remain on marked hiking trails to reduce erosion. Walking experiences are a low impact tourism activity with a minimal carbon footprint resulting from emissions.
We provide travelers with pre-departure tips on how to be more sensitive travelers and reduce their impact, including, a recommended carbon neutral initiative to offset any emissions from their flights. Our local suppliers of food and accommodation have received an international recognised certification for their committed to sustainable operations including the protection of the environment and biodiversity, reducing their energy, waste, and water consumption.

Community

Local guesthouses are used in the mountain communities of Svaneti to ensure local employment and income is provided to through tourism. We are supporting the development of the Transcaucasian Trail, a planned trekking route across the region of Svaneti and the Caucasus mountains, with the aim of promoting sustainable tourism to bring economic activity to remote areas of Georgia and promote connections between communities and people.
Our local suppliers have received an international recognised certification for their commitment to social responsibility and human rights, protecting people from discrimination or exploitation including minorities and disabilities, fair pay and working conditions, plus, commitment to social responsibility and human rights.
We and our suppliers have an agreement ensuring commitment to ethical operations. Local guides are used to ensure the employment of local people, particularly in remote areas. We use locally owned hotels rather than international chains to ensure that money remains within the country.
