Responsible tourism: Food & wine tour in Romagna, Italy
Italy is world famous for its cuisine. On this tour, you will get to savour some of the best we have to offer, as well as local wines. The writer, literary critic and Italian gastronome Pellegrino Artusi, whose work The Science of Cooking and the Art of Eating Well was born in Forlimpopoli: we will visit his birthplace, now a museum. Here you will learn some of the secrets of great Italian cooking, along with the fun of food tasting.
Whilst here, be sure to take advantage of the visit to farms scattered throughout the territory also to visit small villages off the traditional paths: an original and genuine understanding of Romagna land and table! Witness organic farming methods, practiced in this region for generations - the secret behind the rich flavours of the food cooked in this area.
We do our best to apply the principles of responsible tourism, enshrined in the charter of the Association for Responsible Tourism in Italy. AITR's charter complies with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.
We have organized this itinerary to ensure it can be completed without haste, with a limited number of destinations each day - ensuring our customers can gain a greater enjoyment from the local area. We also keep groups small, so that travelers can fully experience the destination and this way we protect the local area and farms from the harmful impact of large tourist groups.
Whilst here you will be able to see how olive oil is made. Witness the milling, to taste the new oil, compare it with other extra virgin oils, becoming, in a few days experts of this product.
We have selected farms that have expressed a desire to show visitors how they grow and harvest food, whilst also ensuring they maintain ethical and environmentally beneficial growing practices. We prefer to work with locally-owned service providers and vendors (transport, accommodation, catering, etc.), or small scale, regional providers. Whilst on this tour we encourage travelers to spend locally and fairly.
