Responsible tourism: Truffle tour in Italy

Find and taste truffles with the locals, who are deep connoisseurs of this product and its habitat. The farmers who hunt truffles use traditional methods that aim to leave the woodland and wildlife unharmed and undisturbed - a great example of un-intensive farming. We keep groups small for the truffle hunting to minimise our impact.

The territory you will explore is in the Sibillini Mountains National Park, a protected area of over 70,000 hectares, created in 1993 to protect the environment, promote sustainable socio-economic development and encourage public enjoyment of the mountains. Local experts will help guests to responsibly navigate the area, ensuring that the environment remains pristine and local wildlife left undisturbed. The park is the ideal habitat for the wolf, the golden eagle and the peregrine falcon.

There are also historical and artistic treasures, including picturesque villages and Medieval abbeys. You can also enjoy activities, such as horseback riding, rafting, hiking and mountain biking - all low carbon ways of exploring an area.

We do our best to apply the principles of responsible tourism, enshrined in the charter of the Association for Responsible Tourism in Italy. AITR's charter complies with the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.

Our destination is a special place from which to experience the Le Marche Region's broad and exciting range of attractions. The towns around this part of Le Marche are rightly famous for their unique historical, architectural and cultural significance especially their religious art - visiting these off the beaten track locations helps ensure that local economies are supported and more traditional ways of life can continue.

There are many destinations which can be reached in a short space of time allowing you to discover the surroundings which are rich in history and art; cities such as Fermo, Ascoli Piceno, Macerata, Tolentino or the myriad of small, charming villages which are home to such treasures.

It's worth emphasising the point that we don’t regard our visitors as tourists, but as guests. The accommodation takes pride in the genuine warmth of the familiar hospitality.

We organize itineraries that can be completed without haste, with a limited number of destinations each day - ensuring our customers can gain a greater enjoyment from the local area. We go out of our way to support rural communities and economies - ensuring that tourists visit places away from the more popular city areas.

We also keep groups small, so that travelers can fully experience the destination, and this way we protect the local area from the harmful impact of large tourist groups.
