On this 57 day adventure we use a mixture of public transport minimising our impact on the environment. Getting around by train and public buses reduces our carbon footprint as well as giving our passengers the chance to experience authentic local life.
This tour has an extensive amount of included activities, whereby the entry fees go towards the maintenance of these important highlights. This includes the Elephant Conservation Centre in Myanmar which protects endangered elephants within the area. Using expert tour leaders and guides we make sure that our passengers are aware of responsible travel within Asia and do not participate in any activities that will endanger the wildlife such as elephant riding.
We visit several local villages and communities that give us an insight into traditional culture in Myanmar and South East Asia. From Hsipaw for example, we explore the local Shan villages. Here an expert guide will explain about traditional Shan life including home industries like bamboo weaving . His knowledge in the area will be beneficial for customers as this is area in Myanmar that is very much off the beaten track.
We also discover the Palaung community who live according to old traditions. They rarely have contact with the Western world so this is a great insight into an authentic way of life. The adventure through Myanmar combines an intoxicating mix of off the beaten track gems such as destinations like Kyaykme and Pyin Oo Lwin as well as major highlights such as the Kyaikto Pagoda.
We also visit the Sapa villages in Vietnam where we can enjoy a trek through the rice paddies for a taste of rural Vietnamese life. By visiting these places we have the option to purchase local food and drink and even handmade items in order to give back to the local communities. We also stay in local guesthouses and hotels throughout the tour.
