We and our local partner in Croatia are committed to working towards developing, operating and marketing our businesses in a sustainable manner. We recognise that it is important for the long term success of our operations to consider our impact on the environment, doing whatever we can to protect the resources that our business and the local communities that we visit depend upon.
We encourage exploration by boat and on foot throughout this trip where guests have the opportunity to visit traffic-free islands and explore Croatian life the 'slow way'.
Our local partner in Croatia runs a successful waste management policy, incorporating the principles of reduce, re-use, recycle through implementing duplex printing, recycling all possible materials and using low energy lightbulbs.
We support environmental organisations in the local area such as Eko Omblici, Lions Club, the swimming club Jug, the national park of Krka, and the Dva Skalina Association, which works to get children with special needs out into nature and assist their carers.
On this tour, we ask our guests to avoid feeding or disturbing the wildlife.
Our local partner hires local people throughout their business, from managers to guides and drivers, and we also use locally owned and run hotels in Dubrovnik, and encourage our guests to use local restaurants, giving them the opportunity to not only interact with the local people, learning about their way of life, but also to enjoy the fabulous local food.
All of this means that our guests get a more authentic trip, safe in the knowledge that their trip is benefiting the local economy in a positive and sustainable way, providing financial input, employment opportunities and helping the local people to build their businesses following the war.
You will also get the opportunity to visit local businesses such as local wine producers, oil producers and cheese-makers, where you can learn about the process of making these products and also get the chance to take some home. Our local partner also donates money to a different local charity every month, with each staff member contributing three euros per person to that cause.
