Responsible tourism: Fitness and activity vacation in Wales, UK
This adventure provider has exhibited a long term commitment to continuing to be an economic force for sustainable use of our coastal National Park – their priorities are to meet the needs and expectations of you, their customer, whilst at the same time benefiting the local people, the local economy, and respecting the environment.
Surfing, coasteering, kayaking and hiking are all fabulous low impact ways of exploring the coastline. We keep traveling to a minimum, and run our minibuses on local bio diesel to lessen the impact of our travel, and in your free time we encourage you to take advantage of the local coastal shuttle buses.
We'll also point you in the direction of local service providers, so you can experience the best of Pembrokeshire, but also continue to make sure that the money that you spend stays in the local economy. Our adventure lodge accommodation is low impact in many ways – a ground source heat pump provides hot water and heating, and electricity is sourced from a green energy provider.
Food is sourced locally as far as possible, food waste is composted, and other waste is recycled. We reuse, reduce and recycle as far as possible, and encourage our guests to do the same.
We employ a range of people living locally as guides and hospitality staff, and through our interactions with our guests we aim to impart our enthusiasm, and respect for, the inspirational Pembrokeshire coast and countryside. By providing year round employment , and year round visitors in a geographical area renowned for problems of seasonality we make a strong and positive contribution to the local economy.
This adventure centre is a founder member of the Pembrokeshire Outdoor Charter Group, which exists to develop sustainable environmental growth in a rapidly expanding outdoor adventure and tourism industry, and we are also involved in actively lobbying and campaigning for increased access to Pembrokeshire via public transport.
We provide sustainable activities on National Trust properties, thereby introducing discerning clients to the wildlife and natural beauty of these coastal locations. The partnership is based upon a shared ethos; that of the importance of sustainability in all business activities and the wish to enjoy and protect this pristine coastline and the wildlife that depend on it.
