Responsible tourism: Fiji small group cultural tour

As a company we are committed to running our tours in a responsible manner as highlighted below:

Ecosystem Preservation: we incorporate a $200 donation into the overall travel costs to support the local environmental initiatives of The Mamanuca Environment Society. We are dedicated to helping MES preserving the unique environment of the Fijiís Mamanuca Region, during our tour travelers will have a chance to learn about MESís Turtle Conservation Project and their aim of protecting the breeding and nesting grounds of the regionís native turtle populations. Travelers will also have the opportunity to support their AdoptĖaĖTurtle program which is helping to maximise survival rates and assist in bringing back the turtle population in Fiji.

In addition, Soulful Concepts proactively cares for the environment by:

- Providing information on best snorkelling and water sports practises allowing less damage by walking on coral structure and increases survival rate of coral polyps.
- communicating with travelers about appropriate behaviour in the natural environment. i.e. not taking our purchasing any natural souvenirs such as shells.
- providing our travelers with water canisters at the hotel to refill their water bottles.
- encourage travelers to keep the environment clean by picking up any rubbish they see.
- only taking small group with a maximum number of 16 travelers.
- asking travelers to bring eco-friendly and reusable products.

To make sure our tours benefit the local economy and community as much as possible we:

- Establish good long-term relationships with locally owned suppliers and service providers such as The Mamanuca Environment Society, who provide education on reef protection and sustainability to local resorts, operators, schools and villages.
- Participate in resort environmental days
- Pay fair prices for services and products.
- Recommend local and ethical products and services to our travelers.
- Include locally owned restaurants and food vendors in all tours
- Prioritise employment of local residents; guides, drivers, and management.
- Provide information to Tour Managers and travelers of responsible tourism practices, cultural taboos and etiquette.

In addition, we actively support local initiatives such as the Sigatoka River Safari which is an eco-cultural adventure. Travelers get the opportunity to visit authentic Fijian Villages and connect with the local way of life getting a better understanding of Fijian culture and rituals.

Through the participation in the Sigatoka River Safari travelers are able to connect with the different village projects providing funding to the local economy by supporting local village cooks, guides and drivers.
