Responsible tourism: Vietnam tailor made vacation, highlights tour
We and our local partner in Vietnam are continually working to reduce our environmental footprints and focus on nature-based activities and traditional attractions. Recycling is a priority and paper is always printed on both sides to avoid waste. Lights and air-conditioning are turned off when not in use. While you are on tour, we encourage exploring your destinations on foot or by bicycle rather than road. This gives you a better chance to enjoy your surroundings and interact with the locals whilst having a minimal impact on the environment.
Local suppliers and accommodation are chosen, not only for their exceptional service, but also for their environmentally and socially responsible policies. Where possible, food and other supplies are sourced locally to minimise environmental impact and ensure local communities benefit from tourism in the area.
Our guides are trained to behave in an environmentally responsible manner and ask clients and local communities to respect the areas visited. We encourage low-impact transport wherever possible such as by exploring the towns on foot or exploring Halong Bay by kayak.
We are passionate about ensuring that our tours have positive impacts on the local communities that you visit during your trip, and so is our local partner. Our local partner employs local people from the nearby communities, paying an above average wage too, thus strengthening the local economy and providing a valuable employment source. We use local suppliers for accommodation, transport and food in Vietnam, not only putting money back into the local economies, but also providing our guests with ample opportunity to meet the local people and learn about their way of life and the pressures affecting them. Our local partner offers micro-loans to deserving local people, so that they can start up their own businesses such as farms. Our local partner in Vietnam sponsors a sampan boat for an underprivileged family in the Mekong Delta, allowing them to earn a living through fishing. Many attractions visited by other tour operators are avoided for social or fair-trade reasons. Guests are advised the best places to buy local handicrafts, where they are able to purchase fair-trade, authentic, good value souvenirs whilst benefiting the local community.
