Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Myanmar tailor made vacation, highlights tour

We and our local partners like to keep our environmental impact to a minimum. This means that we encourage travel on foot, by bicycle or ethically sound animal-drawn carts where possible. Not only does this have a better impact on the environment, it allows you to get a real feel for the country and its way of life. When unavoidable, we use motor vehicles which are both safe and comfortable whilst having lower emissions and fuel consumption.

During your tour, we take litter away to be recycled. In Yangon for example, rubbish is given to private rubbish collectors who later sort it and sell it on to recyclers. Some of the rubbish is kept for re-use within the business such as the use of bottles for plants in their organic garden. The suppliers that we partner with in Myanmar share our core values regarding sustainability and responsible tourism, with protection of the environment being one of their top priorities.

We are passionate about ensuring that our tours have positive impacts on the local communities that you visit during your trip, and so is our local partner. Our local partner employs local people from the nearby communities, paying an above average wage too, thus strengthening the local economy and providing a valuable employment source. We use local suppliers for accommodation, transport and food in Myanmar, not only putting money back into the local economies, but also providing our guests with ample opportunity to meet the local people and learn about their way of life and the pressures affecting them. Our local partner offers micro-loans to deserving local people, so that they can start up their own businesses such as farms. In Myanmar, the government education system often excludes minority children such as those from ethnic minorities, those with disabilities, or working children. The money raised through your tour allows our local partner in Myanmar supports the Alaikyaung Pariyatti Monastery Monastic Education Centre in Yangon, where these children can be given the opportunity to a decent education.
