Small group adventure vacation
This is a 'small group adventure' - on our group trips you'll be with a maximum of 11 like minded travelers and you'll have a group leader with you. Whether you are traveling alone or with friends it's good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of privacy. This trip will appeal to travelers of all ages who enjoy meeting people from other parts of the world as well as seeing new places!

How this vacation makes a difference

Each traveler on this trip is given a gift of a Responsible Traveler cloth bag made by disadvantaged children from Central Vietnam. This bag is designed to combat the increasingly prevalent problem of plastic bag pollution disrupting the various marine and land habitats of Vietnam.

Your group leader and the local guides we use along the way will help to break down barriers in your interactions with local people. In addition, we travel by some local transport to facilitate and encourage interaction with the local population. In the Mekong Delta, we visit a local garden restaurant, in the heart of the Delta, where you can sample some of the regional specialities such as the famous elephant ear fish. We board small rowing boats, sampans, and paddle through the many mangrove tributaries to visit small villages and meet with the friendly locals.

Your leader will explain the range of projects we support in Vietnam, and in Hanoi, we visit one of these projects - KOTO, a restaurant dedicated to training street kids and disadvantaged youth in skills for the hospitality industry. At the end of our journey, travelers may donate any unwanted clothing, medicine and bandages, which are distributed to appropriate local charities.

Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh vacation in Vietnam

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Difficult to choose just one part - the Halong Bay overnight boat trip was fascinating, the trip into the Mekong Delta most enjoyable, but perhaps the two days in Hoi An gave us the best flavour of the country - varied activities and relaxing.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

It can be wet and quite cold in Hanoi in early March - a fleece and waterproof are a wise precaution. You don't need many clothes - light, informal wear (with an opportunity for cheap, high quality laundry in Hoi An. Arrange to spend a day in Hanoi before the start of the trip (it doesn't start until 18:00 on the first day) and a day in Saigon at the end (don't miss the water puppet theatre.)

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Apart from the visit to the Koto restaurant in Saigon at the end, we were not really made aware of this aspect of the trip, although the optional excursion by bicycle and the cookery course in Hoi An brought us more into contact with local people.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Good value for money. The itinerary was clear and accurate, excellent guide, adequate hotels and good transport. Fulfilled our expectations.
