Volunteer travel - what's it all about?
Are you looking for an adventurous trip with a purpose, or on a gap year or career break? If you want to make a difference in some of the world’s most important conservation areas - and in community projects - then volunteer trips are for you! Volunteers tend to have a sense of adventure, and come from a range of different backgrounds and from all over the world.
Edward Abbey said 'sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul'.

How this vacation makes a difference

Costa Rica is a wealth of biodiversity and has much to offer volunteers interested in nature in all its glory. With all the natural wealth, there are still a large number of families still living below poverty level.

When you book this trip, in addition to half typically of your programme fee that is spent in country, we will also use US $75 of your fee to purchase cement bags, a gallon of paint, tools or equivalent through our Big Giving programme.

Often the great work of our projects can be limited by a lack of resources which can be such simple things. Big Giving is our way of helping these projects and providing them with the physical items that they really need – and that's on top of the hard work of our volunteers! We believe that it's important for all of our projects to be sustainable in their own right and for that reason we do not donate items that would encourage dependence on us. What Big Giving will provide are items we know are genuinely required by projects to help improve lives or meet goals.
