Tailor made family vacations

What are the main benefits?
A tailor-made vacation is a unique experience designed to match exactly what you’d like to do. For the past 20 years, we’ve specialised in family adventures – so we’re perfectly placed to create a bespoke trip with mum, dad, kids, and maybe even grandparents, in mind. Our dedicated team of specialists has young families, and they’ve travelled with kids in tow – so they know what it’s like and what you’ll need to make your trip flow.
How much does it cost?
A tailor-made family trip doesn’t have to break the bank. We can help you choose the mode of transport, style of accommodation and activities in your itinerary that will perfectly match your budget. Over the years we’ve built our supplier relationships to enable us to get the best possible price for your trip, and gathered a lot of tips and tricks to create a perfectly-balanced journey. Our aim is to deliver authentic travel experiences every time.
How much support is there?
You’ll be accompanied by one of our specially-trained tour leaders during your vacation, who’s there to find that family-friendly restaurant, make the jungle come alive or show you the hidden tunnels at the temple. You’ll be met at the airport on arrival and have your leader’s and our UK office’s full support during your trip, whatever you choose to do.

We think a family tailor-made adventure is the perfect way to enjoy the world in safe hands but with your own stamp of individuality.

Responsible tourism

Responsible tourism: Sri Lanka tailor made family vacation

During your vacation you will make a visit to the Uda Walawe Elephant Transit Home, run by the Sri Lankan Department of Wildlife Conservation. Established in 1995, the home provides shelter for 30 orphaned or abandoned baby elephants, releasing them to the wild when they are strong enough to survive in their natural habitat. You will visit the ETH at feeding time (the only time visits are allowed) and see the elephants from a viewing deck approximately 10m away. We do not promote elephant rides on our trips and there is not the opportunity to do this activity at the Elephant Transit Home, instead your visit supports their rescue work, and offers a glimpse into the world of these magnificent beasts in a responsible environment.

Your visit to the turtle hatchery at Kosgoda also benefits a conservation project which aims to protect hatchlings in their first few days before they head out to sea. It’s a fascinating insight into the work being done to protect an endangered species while at the same time supporting this valuable cause.

You’ll get plenty of opportunity to explore the countryside on foot in Sri Lanka, including some spectacular walks around Kitulgala. When venturing out in the forests, you’ll be encouraged to protect the area you are venturing through. This can be done by sticking to marked trails rather than heading off into the trees, not picking the plant life, and of course, not leaving litter behind, preserving the landscape for future visitors.
Recycling is encouraged of all our travelers and your guide will be on hand to assist dispose of rubbish responsibly as you travel, small steps such as this help make a big difference.

The very ethos of our style of travel is responsible; small groups, just your family and friends, traveling on an itinerary planned with your family in mind, by a team of experts in close collaboration with our in-country team of locals who know the area like no others. Throughout the planning process and during the operation of your vacation steps will be taken to ensure negative impacts on the environment and cultures being visited are minimised and positives are maximised.

You’ll notice throughout your tour that local suppliers are integral to your vacation experience. Your tour guide will be Sri Lankan, recruited by our in country team who we work closely with when tailoring your vacation. Your family will stay in small, locally owned properties, from hotels and lodges, to the campsite we use at Bandarawela. You’ll eat in small, often family run restaurants and breakfast on the banks of Parakrama Lake. Food and ingredients will be sourced locally, supporting local industry, testament again to the steps taken in country to support the economies of the regions being visited, aiding the creation of employment opportunities and injecting revenue where it is most needed.

During your visit to Sri Lanka, you’ll visit a number of sacred temples and monuments, perhaps the most famous of these being the Temple of the Tooth. We will encourage your family to dress conservatively throughout your trip to be respectful of the local culture and the high regard in which many sites are held.
