Our Volunteering
We work directly with local NGOs and Community based organisations, taking great care to select the organisations we partner with always making sure there is a real need for volunteers and the work that volunteers do will make a difference to the local community.
We work hard with the selected local partner organisations to develop roles for the volunteers focusing on areas where real difference can be to help the organisations meet their objectives. Through a dedicated team of local managers we constantly monitor the progress that is made through the volunteer programme and constantly review the thrust of our volunteer programmes to help local communities
Pre-departure briefings and continuous support by the locally based manager helps with preparation and enables volunteers to maximise their contribution to the school and community, as well as their own enjoyment. The projects are well organised so that volunteers can make a good contribution in a relatively short amount of time.
The Schools are carefully selected from remote and impoverished areas where resources for teachers and materials are limited so your contribution can make a large noticeable difference. We will match your skills to a school that most needs your help.
This Teaching Project
We work with schools in the rural areas around Arusha, Moshi and Pare Mountains. In this project you will make a difference by improving English language skills to a region which is striving to improve levels of education. We work with rural schools in the Masaai area, and schools in this area work with very few resources and very few teaching staff. Class sizes are generally large and vary between 60 and 80 children with class sizes of 100 not being very uncommon. You will provide much needed support and back up to local teaching staff who are very stretched.
Most lessons in Primary Schools are in Kiswahili, however once children reach Secondary level, the medium of education changes to English. By helping to raise their level of English at primary schools you give the children a much better chance of performing well at Secondary School and getting a proper education.
After school sport, art and drama clubs are in much demand so your contribution will be valued and enable more children to discover their strengths and give them a sense of personal value.
You stay in Home stays which directly supports families in the region providing them with a business and an income. Your home stay will be close by to your project so you will either walk or use local transport to travel. Living with a family also allows you to integrate fully within the community for a rich experience of local life. Your use of local facilities, shops, restaurants etc will bring income to local businesses.
Our optional travel packages are provided through a local company which generates work for local people and supports local projects.
Foundation:
We have our own foundation, a registered charity, which our travelers and volunteers can join us in supporting.
Aims of the foundation are:
The advancement of education, the relief of poverty and sickness and the preservation and protection of good health through the provision of financial assistance, volunteers and such other forms of support as the council members may from time to time determine.
The Foundation supports local communities by:
- Making grants to individuals
- Making grants to organisations
- Providing other finance
- Providing human resources
- Providing buildings / facilities / open space

We invite every traveler who books a vacation via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the vacations they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same vacation can have different views!
