How this vacation makes a difference

The camps that we use on the trip are semi permanent tented camps that can be removed with no impact on the environment. The lodges we have selected all actively work to reduce their environmental impact as well as working with local communities in a number of projects and development initiatives.

All camps and lodges employ local guides and staff from the areas that you will be traveling to and most camps and lodges pay local community fees for tourism, so your stay directly benefits these communities.

The wildlife areas visited are at the forefront of conservation. The Laikipia Plateau is made up of private ranches and farms where cattle ranching coexist with wildlife and tourism. Farmers are seeing the importance of wildlife and are therefore actively involved in preserving the diversity of wildlife on their land. Animals like cheetah, wild dog and lion have started to return to the area and are now thriving. By visiting these areas you are helping to promote tourism and the wildlife you are there to see.

We aim to minimise our impact on the environment as much in the UK as we would do in any of our destination countries. We do this through recycling of any office waste including, paper, plastic, cans, glass, refuse, in partnership with the Borough of Brighton and Hove. The purpose of our safaris is to contribute to local populations, communities and projects. We give our travelers advice on how to interact with the local population, flora and fauna in order to minimise any negative impact. We advise people not to bargain just for the sake of it and because it is the “thing to do”; you should pay what you feel the object is worth to yourself and the vendor, bearing in mind local cultures, society and standard of living.

Too many to mention but the safari parts of the vacation were certainly the highlight.

Take a pair of binoculars - and good ones - we had one less good pair but we were very glad we were not fighting to see the animals also take more memory cards for your camera than you think you will need.

Everywhere we stayed was environmentally aware and hugely educational for us and the local population.
