Catalonia family mountain biking & activity vacation, Spain
Memorable parts? The atmosphere. The amazing biking. The friendliness of the Spaniards and our hosts. The excellent food. Tips? Make sure you research all there is to do so that you can take advantage of exactly what you like best. The region, in close proximity to Mas Pelegri, is absolutely full of incredible things to do, especially sporting activities. We were full to the brim AND we'd have liked to do more research even before going. Local benefits? Yes. By... (more)Jeneva Patterson

Catalonia family activity holiday, Spain
Memorable parts? Staying in a welcoming and comfortable hotel in a beautiful part of Spain, with delightful hosts, and masses of available activities. Tips? Stay at here, it's great. Local benefits? Yes, all of the above. We booked several activities with local companies and ate in local restaurants. We were able to travel extensively by bike rather than car. Overall rating? Excellent. We have all returned fit, healthy and happy. (more)Mary Anne Roffs

Catalan horse riding vacation in Spain
We spent a lovely 6 days with Gareth and Fiona. The best bit was the communal meals and camaraderie between all the people staying there, whatever activity they were taking part in (more)Vanessa Richards
Hats off to Fiona and Gareth, they really got the formula of a home from home with the conveniences of a hotel spot on! Five star, definitely five star, every bit of it provided what my family, from 4 to 40 years old, needed for a perfect vacation. They gave us a list of great places to visit, they had horse riding just down the road where my daughter would spend the day there if she could! It is definitely a place we will go to again. The scenery, the relaxation, the welcome at the hotel, the glorious setting, the range of locally run activities (canoeing horse riding swimming, mountain biking etc), the joy of the children as they explored and enjoyed the freedom, the hotel and it's amazing environment...good job this box is character limited - I would go on all day. (more)Jackie shears

Catalonia family self guided biking holiday, Spain
Memorable parts? The 30k mountain bike ride that took in parts of the local scenery that would have remained unseen without the guidance and assistance of our host. Tips? For full flexibility hire a car. Local benefits? Not especially although the riding stables did do well out of the visitors. Overall rating? A great vacation and well worth considering for a return. The hosts accommodate families that want to be off the beaten track just as well as cycling or other... (more)Mark Burberry

Find out more about disabled travel by reading articles & watching videos.

When Richard Branson was trying to fly round the world in a balloon, a disabled friend of mine said "If he's so desperate for thrills, he should try using a wheelchair for a week. I get that kind of excitement every time I try to cross the road!" Maybe that was a little exaggerated, but I knew what he meant. As a wheelchair user of some 30+ years, I've had to live in a world that was less than perfect when it came to meeting my needs. I'm not talking about the outer reaches of Mongolia either; I'm talking about the UK. At least things here have been improving. The same, however, can't be said for most of the rest of the world and there's nothing like the annual vacation to bring this into sharp focus. Whilst many 'Responsible Travelers' are contemplating a trip to the depths of the Amazon rainforest or the top of the Himalayas, I'm dreaming of wheeling along the front at Benidorm! Videos about disabled travel

Lynne Kirby from Enable vacations talks about how disabled travel is changing:

10 years ago some people didn't even entertain the idea of going abroad. Much has improved but we need to build confidence.

José Fernandes Franco describes how Parque dos Sonhos vacations facilitate disabled travel:

Our infrastructure and activities include everybody. From enabling people with quadriplegia to go rafting and people with paraplegia to zip line, to allowing both the able bodied and people with a range of disabilities to go horseriding and sightseeing together. The reactions are fantastic. "I never thought about doing this before. I feel like all the other people."
