Malaysia rainforest bungalows near Kuala Lumpur
My best vacation ever....The whole place was wonderful. I loved the open air nature of the hut. It felt like being outdoors yet protected at the same time. (more)Matthew Murphy
Very good...the best parts were Swimming in the pool during light rain and watching the clouds over the jungle. (more)Gisa Jaehnichen
Beautiful location, living in the open all day and night without the hassle of camping, the Malaysian food, the balance between privacy and company, the access to the virgin forest, the pools. What's not to like! (more)Mervyn Hawe
From MYR400 - MYR1000 per accommodation per night
Istanbul vacation accommodation, Turkey
The most exciting part was just being in Istanbul...Brilliant vacation and very personable local contact. (more)Frances Smyth
Istanbul was a great place to stay, with so much to do. The accommodation was in a brilliant location to enjoy both the historic sights and going out. It has been beautifully restored and was perfect for a couple. (more)Eleanor Tomlinson
From €90 - €270 per apartment per night
Angkor Wat tour
Memorable parts? First sight on Angkor Wat before sunrise, silhouetted against a dark sky. Tips? Bring sunscreen! Local benefits? We had a great local guide, but I was concerned about the impact of our big, air-conditioned bus & noisy diesel longtail boat during the trip up Tonle Sap. I'd like to know more about how money from tourism actually infiltrates the local economy. I'm concerned that tourism is creating a dependent, vassal class of native servants & merchants. (more)Diane Pittman
From US $1040 - US $1295 including domestic flights only
Short breaks to Istanbul, Turkey
Excellent. I now want to find out more of Istanbul's history and return. (more)Wendy Gerbi
Very good -- I really liked walking across the Galata Bridge & getting to see a neighborhood that was not quite as touristy as Sultanahmet. (more)Johanna Novales
Istanbul is such wonderful city, we loved all the amazing sites and having our own guide meant that we got the most out of our time. The food was really good, and we enjoyed going around the spice market collecting the ingredients we needed to cook them ourselves at home. (more)Jane Edwards
From £455 excluding flights
Angkor Wat cycling tour
Memorable parts? Cycling through rural villages with all the children running out calling hello! Tips? If traveling with children you might want to limit the temples. Local benefits? Definitely. (more)Vanessa Morley
From US $350 excluding flights
Marrakech medina riad, Morocco
Memorable parts? The way to walk from Djemaa-el-Fna through the narrow streets to the Riad Shaden. The Riad is about 15 minutes walk away, right in the heart of the medina among the local people. I really enjoyed walking there at nights and seeing the life the morocconas live and buying wonderful mandarines and organges on the streets. Tips? Just enjoy the Riad: the rooms are beautiful, the courtyard lovely and the people working there very helpful. Take full advantage of the roof. Local... (more)Kristina Mδnd
From £50 - £70 per double room per night
Porto city hostel, Portugal
Memorable parts? This clean and simple accommodation was in a great location for those interested in the best Porto has to offer. The E metro line is a 5 min walk away. But you should ask Pedro, the proprietor for directions on how to get there first beforehand, it can be a little tricky to find. The metro stop is not in the city centre, though it is only a 20min ride away. The 205 and 504 buses stop right outside their door. The 205 bus takes you all along the Matoshinhos coast line... From €20 - €30 per person per night incl breakfast
Lisbon city centre hostel, Portugal
Memorable parts? Carcavelos Tips? Public transport is excellent Local benefits? Not really! Overall rating? Good but very disappointed that our agreed transfer from airport to hostel was cancelled on day of travel :-( (more)Bev Blythe
From €8 - €25 per accommodation per night
Marrakesh riad bed & breakfast, Morocco
Memorable parts? The way to walk from Djemaa-el-Fna through the narrow streets to the Riad Linda. Tips? Just enjoy the riad and its great location. Local benefits? Yes, because all the people working in the riad were local and extremely helpful. Overall rating? Very good. Marrakech is a fantastic city with many interesting places to visit, things to do and streets to walk. Staying in a riad is part of an experience along going to hammams, eating tajine and couscous,... (more)Kristina Mδnd
From £55 - £65 per room per night (sleeps 2)
