I hesitate to write this review for selfish reasons. Why? Because this vacation is so wonderful I'd rather keep it a secret! Situated on the southern slopes of Mt Batakaru in remotest Bali, this place is a pocket of paradise, far removed from the ravages of the 21st century. Having spent a week there I did not want to leave.
(more)WOW! So many different experiences and so many wonderful people. Climbing Mt Batur at 4am to see the sun rise was a major highlight and swimming in the cool clear waterfall in Lombok. (more)Snorkelling, climbing the volcano and learning about the particular kind of Hinduism practised in Bali were the most memorable parts. (more)Far too many to mention, but I'll have a go: sleeping on deserted beaches, a school of dolphins passing just in front of our kayak, seeing a shark while snorkelling, the sound of two very large komodo dragons running through the undergrowth in our direction, great food and an outstanding local guide.
