1 Reviews of Lanzarote seafront apartment, Punta Mujeres

4 out of 5 stars

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Swimming in the sea right outside our apartment, and waking up to the amazing view every morning. The roof terrace was lovely and it was so nice to chill out
in the shade of the daybed even when it was hot. We also loved the Timanfaya guided volcano walk which we booked through our accommodation.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Lanzarote is windy! It is also very dry and rocky, so pack sensible shoes and a hat which won't blow away. Take goggles to see the fish when swimming in the
sea. Keep an eye out for wildlife - the landscape seems very barren but there are lizards and geckos and lots of birds. We even had a wading bird outside our
window one day!

Do note that in this apartment the bathrooms are incorporated within the bedrooms (there is a door to the toilet but the shower, bath and sink are all open
within the room). This is not a problem as such but means that it is less private than having a separate bathroom.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The island has no natural fresh water supply, so all the water is desalinated seawater and very chlorinated (much worse than anywhere in the UK); everyone
therefore buys bottled water. We were provided with a glass bottle of water on arrival and were able to refill this at the Eco Village a 5-minute drive away
which has its own water treatment system (though they did charge for refills, which was a little cheeky given the cost of the accommodation). The Eco
Village is solar-powered and seems to be pretty low-impact. Our apartment did have a solar panel on the roof, and we were provided with a Yaris electric
hybrid car. The company did promote some excursions which we thought were a bit questionable from an environmental point of view (eg. one featuring
jetskis and another with captive dolphins), however the volcano walk we went on was great and we had a very knowledgeable guide who provided lots of
information about the flora and fauna and the importance of protecting the fragile landscape.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

We really enjoyed our vacation and the location provided a great opportunity to chill out. The only thing is that it is pretty expensive for a fully self-catering

Read the operator's response here:

We do not promote or support the dolphin zone, we only promote the water park area. I will review all the leaflets at the finca to ensure there isn’t any promoting the captive dolphins.
Thank you for informing me of this.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Green credentials include: hybrid car, led lighting, A+ class electric appliances, solar water heater, half flush toilets, within walking/cycling distance to amenities.

Linen is changed weekly in order to save water.

Waste reduction: We encourage recycling and ask guests to use the containers for paper, glass and plastic recycling provided locally in the village. Blue for paper and cardboard, green for glass and yellow for plastic containers, tins and cartons.

We also ask clients to think about their water consumption whilst staying on the island and to use water sparingly and shower instead of having a full bath tub.

This northern area of Lanzarote has a diverse range of fauna and flora especially unusual and interesting species of marine birds. The island has provided a welcoming safe haven for a large variety of resident and migrating birds and we are committed to their conservation ensuring it stays this way.

In our office we have low energy lighting, use laptops, reuse paper and recycle waste.
