Carbon reduction

Your vacation will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this vacation and how to reduce them.

As a socially responsible business, our urban resort in Kuala Lumpur was founded with the core value of driving sustainable development by employing an integrated and participatory approach to minimise our impacts while safeguarding and enhancing the physical environment for present and future generations.

Among our various initiatives is our aim to reduce and ultimately eliminate single-use plastics from our operations by Earth Day 2019. We have successfully the remove all plastic drinking straws from our resort including restaurants and switching to paper drinking straws since end of 2018 and we are now looking for an alternative to replace our plastic water bottles throughout the resort. In terms of our supply chain, we work closely with local suppliers, when possible, and have had them sign our Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy which addresses the scope of our operations including; location and sensitivity of the local environment, environmental and social impacts, activities, products, services and facilities.

Apart from that, we also prioritize green management in every aspect of our operations. All our associates are working towards the goal of reducing consumption rates through improved efficiency and by adopting new technology or practices regarding key operational indicators such as energy; emissions; water, waste and paper use; as well as chemical and pesticide use.

Since the inception of our hotel in Kuala Lumpur city center, we have sought to be agents of social and economic development. We strongly believe that our actions and inactions significantly impact our progeny, and that good businesses are also businesses that do good.

One of the key pillars of our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts is our Feeding the Community program, which we are continuing in working with Kechara Soup Kitchen, a non-religious community action group that distributes food, basic medical aid and counselling to the homeless and urban poor as and when we are able to spare the resources.

Not only that, we also participate in various group planned activities such as Earth Hour, Earth Day, World Environment Day/Week, World Tourism Day. We are also committed to perform quarterly community clean-up in our resort’s vicinity area and initiate Charity Events to drive donation for deserving homes involving guests’ participations during festive seasons.

Lastly, guests can contribute to our Green Imperative Fund – through an opt-out donation of US$2 per room night that is matched dollar for dollar by us – which aims to widen the reach and effectiveness of our efforts to provide critical financial support to enable worthy environmental action and community-based projects in the local area.
