This Kasbah was built by local workers. Apart from the owner, the staff is from the local village. All of our supplies (food, interiors etc) are bought from the local village. Local mules can be hired. Medicine and clothes are collected and distributed to the local community. The supplies are sent mostly by clients who have visited us. Rachida, the local Manager of the Kasbah distributes both clothes and medicine directly to the local women for their children. Many of the clothes are generoulsy sent by past guests of the Kasbah. We organize monthly rubbish collection sessions with the village children to keep the surroundings clean.
We contributed 5000DHS towards the cost of a septic tank in the village and is also part of the 'Tidy Village Operation.' The Kasbah uses energy efficient light bulbs, turns off lights, uses candlelight in the main house and fireplaces for heating. Please note that we now have 3 more rooms in the gardens which all have electricity. Our garden is organic and organic waste is composted and fed to the animals.

Excellent. Both the douar and riad are wonderful places to stay. We were looked after and the food deserves a special mention. The arrival in the evening to discover our candle lit room was magical. Read full reviewReviewed on 25 Jul 2013 by Martin Ross

Jacqueline’s house is the perfect place to stay and made our trip to the Atlas mountains a very special one. We loved being able to sit on the roof terrace and enjoy the wonderful views in the daytime and the amazing stars at night. Read full reviewReviewed on 09 Apr 2010 by Michele Schweisfurth
It was great... I'm really impressed with how Jacqueline has restored these properties so sympathetically, and local people were absolutely in charge. The relationship with the Berber villagers was clearly one of mutual trust and benefit. Read full reviewReviewed on 24 Mar 2010 by Margaret Clancy

Wonderful. Not the typical tourist visit. This destination enabled us to appreciate the traditions of the Berbers as well as village life. The setting was idyllic and very conducive to relaxation. Read full reviewReviewed on 10 Jan 2009 by Greig Fitzpatrick
Imlil was absolutely breathtaking, everywhere you looked was stunning, the accommodation, scenery, mountains, people were all incredible. Most memorable? Very good day walks with an excellent guide (Hassan) arranged by the riad. Other main highlight was the very friendly and welcoming management and staff, and amazing evening meals by candlelight. Read full reviewReviewed on 15 Mar 2009 by Virginia Sowton
FIVE STAR all the way! From the location to the food, the rooms, the service, we loved every second of this vacation! It suited us both to have the simplicity of the mountain accommodation and the luxury of the Riad in Marrakech. Read full reviewReviewed on 14 Jan 2009 by Heather Watson

One of the most romantic places you could stay. There are lots of places to stay in the Atlas mountains, and this must be one of the best. Read full reviewReviewed on 31 Oct 2008 by Susan Mead
Most memorable were spending the evening eating and drinking in the candlelight and then laying in bed with the log fire burning in the room and the morning spent walking in the mountains. The light was so clear and the scenery amazing. Read full reviewOur travel guides
