1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Rounding the bend on a hill overlooking Riva Del Garda and seeing Lake Garda come into view.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

It is a very good moderately challenging cycle ride through a region with beautiful landscapes, a rich history and delicious food. I would, however, point out that the title of the tour is misleading. We did not see or go anywhere near the Dolomites. A suggested alternative title would be 'Italian Alps, Lake Garda and Venice Ride'. I would also say that the accommodation on the whole is reasonably good. My only concern is that the ensuite bathroom at the Hotel Venezia in Mestre was ridiculously small. No one can shower in there without wetting the whole bathroom, making it easy to slip.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

In the sense that we were cycling and using public transport such as trains or ferries - yes.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Descending towards Lake Garda from the hilltop.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Do a bit of training beforehand - the bikes used were quite heavy by today’s standard and the wind can be very strong. Also, bring stuff to put on leg bites.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

It benefitted local cafes and restaurants and of course caused very low pollution (only from the support van).

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Very good. Michele was exceptionally helpful and friendly, although with such a big group (16) I think the operator should have had another guide to bring up the rear. Some of the hotel rooms could have been nicer (a little cramped, and problematic air-conditioning in some).

Spectacular scenery, history as well as the food and wine.

Make sure you have a good level of bike fitness if you plan to cycle each day. Feel comfortable taking a break in the van if need.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Seeing others bike riding encourages others to do the same.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Absolutely top shelf. Well managed and led by the 2 group leaders.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Going downhill with such wonderful scenery during the ride. Riding into such beautiful Italian cities as Padova.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Padded shorts or trousers are indispensable...! Don't be too reluctant to ride your bike in the rain. It can be a nice experience too, if it does not last too long.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Local restaurants and other smaller places.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

A very enjoyable trip. A four-and-a-half star trip !

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The cycling

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Bring clothes for all weathers. We had one day when we needed sunscreen and a hat, and the next it was freezing rain. It's not a tremendously demanding ride, but you do need to be able to ride 30 miles a day and climb a hill or two.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We did spend money in local cafes and retaurants, and biking's definitely better than car or coach. I would have liked to see fewer disposable cups and other items in the hotels though.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was a fantastic vacation. Beautiful scenery, great food, enthusiastic leader, good company.
