1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Each of the five days was memorable in its own way. The evening walk from Mefjord Brygge up to the hut for the Northern Lights safari was special as the lights were particularly impressive that evening. Equally driving huskies through the beautiful winterwonderland was also hard to beat. We also loved the boat trip around the fjord, although there are no whales, as the herrings have moved elsewhere.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

If you wish to take photos of the Northern Lights, make sure you read up about how to do it before leaving home; particularly, ensure you have a tripod and a camera which is capable to taking exposures of up to 30 seconds. Double-check any public transport timings you have been given by the tour company. Our itinerary stated that hydrofoil ferry from Finnsnes to Tromso departed at 1615h, in reality it departed at 1430h! Thankfully, the locals seemed to know the timetable sufficiently well to realise that this was incorrect and we made the ferry with 2 minutes to spare.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Subjectively, we felt that local people on Senja benefitted from our presence. It was harder to judge whether we reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

It was very good: great food and great people. We really enjoyed it.
