1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Most of my walking was in mid to late Oct. so unfortunately, I did not have the best of weather. Regardless on clearer moments, the terrain was gentle and the views spectacular especially in the Gower and Pembrokeshire. Memories for me are usually in the journey versus destination, so the most memorable was the generosity and friendliness of the accommodation hosts and locals that helped along the journey.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Be aware that this s not a budget as per Responsible Travel website. The quoted prices all include a breakfast but additional costs for lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks and transport could easily add another £40-50 per person per day. For solo travelers, £175-200 and for couples £300 per day should be budgeted. I'm Canadian and with exchange, multiplying by at least 1.75, these were very expensive days. Transportation can be limited in off season (Oct-?), but hosts can be helpful and accommodating. Trails are well marked, grassy underfoot but can be muddy and wet on footwear.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

It benefited the locals as the accommodation was with family owned businesses rather than the corporates. As this is walking trip the environmental and conservation are all part of this mode of travel.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

A fair to good vacation...I did not have my own transport. Off season transportation schedules can be inconvenient, as can availability of services. I have travelled to many parts of the world and my 3 walks, a total of 11 days was the most expensive per day travel, that I have ever experienced. It was not budget travel (Pembrokeshire walks) as promoted on the website.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the spectacular scenery which is such a feature of our walks in Northumberland, Gower and Pembrokeshire. We have passed on to our accommodation providers your appreciation of their generosity and friendliness. For other travelers, it’s important to clarify that the ‘budget’ category attached to the Pembrokeshire short break related to a cheaper B&B option at £237 per person for 3 nights but there was no availability for your dates. You stayed at the 5-star luxury award-winning B&B. The price you were charged is the one you were quoted and accepted for two people sharing. It was very unfortunate that your companion cancelled at the last moment as this considerably increased your total expenditure. Your bookings thus changed to single occupancy of double rooms and the Terms & Conditions of the accommodation providers involved did not allow the refunds you requested. They were also unable to refund you for adverse weather conditions; it was unfortunate too that you did not experience better weather in Northumberland. With regard to the extra costs you quote, these are dependent entirely on your own choices for lunches, snacks, drinks and dinners. All essential costs were included such as taxis where bus transport was unavailable. Your accommodation was, as you kindly state, much appreciated by you and your entire vacation was tailor-made to your requirements. You received 11 booklets with comprehensive route directions and commentaries, 3 marked-up maps, map case, tailor-made itineraries, travel directions and all the information you could possibly require. Thank you for your booking, for your updates and photographs and we wish you well on your continued travels to India and Sri Lanka.
