1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The reindeer and husky safaris through beautiful snowy landscapes.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

None - everything we needed to know was included in the trip notes we received beforehand.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, the tourists obviously provide an additional source of income in the area and the environmental impact of the trip was kept to a minimum (with the exception of the flights).

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Perfect. We all absolutely loved it, everything was well planned, the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was great. The only slight criticism would be of the beds in the standard rooms. Although comfortable enough, the mattresses kept slipping off them, which was a bit annoying.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The hospitality, the food, husky and reindeer safari, the arctic swim sauna, the peaceful surroundings and of course seeing the Northern Lights.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Utsjoki is a very serene and remote place to travel too; if you are looking to slow down and want an authentic stay in Lapland this is the place to go to!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The overall trip felt very authentic as it is a family run business (the reindeer farm also belongs to a family member) so we do feel that local people are positively impacted by visits. It is a Sami family so they teach visitors about their culture and how they are trying to preserve it. The hotel rooms are heated by geothermal heating and the entire vacation village is equipped with LED lighting.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Fantastic experience!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The whole trip was memorable. A great place with great people and just the right amount of activities. Husky sledding, snow mobiles and snow shoeing amongst others, and a very special New Years Eve. Our guide Scotty was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

The information provided beforehand is spot on. Follow this and you can't go wrong with equipment and clothing etc.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. It was refreshing to see how the hotel actively supports the environment and conservation and educates guests.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Fantastic, action packed and truly memorable.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

I had never participated in any of the snow activates and particularly enjoyed the Snow Shoe Wilderness Hike (invigorating, incredibly beautiful) the Husky Sled Ride-Drive (exhilarating), and actually witnessing two extraordinary displays of the aurora, The Northern Lights. One display was particularly striking and is something I shall never forget.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Read all the required information carefully, prepare by packing your warm clothes and required materials even earlier than usual, and if you go to the gym, consider doing exercises and workouts which will support the kinds of activities you are going to participate in.

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Absolutely!

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Splendid! I loved it.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The whole day and evening of New Year's Eve: Reindeer farm and sled ride, lunch in the ice restaurant and the evening's entertainment and fireworks. All of this and the Northern Lights!!! Best New Year's Eve ever!!! Throughout the week our guide, Alan, was professional, efficient attentive, creative and still managed to be good humoured and patient.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Really, and truly do not worry about your clothes and image. It's all about keeping warm, and you'll be in your snow suit most of the time!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, I did. I think that in such a remote location, responsible tourism would have a positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and fomenting local trade.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Excellent Beyond words ...A truly amazing experience, stretching the parameters of my comfort zone. I could never have imagined myself getting into an ice plunge pool, or rolling in the snow in a swimsuit at 18 degrees below zero!! Purely optional, by the way!
