Reviews for Greece bird watching vacation, Lake Kerkini

review 30 Dec 2016

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The trip as a whole was memorable: well organized and all the expectations were met! Traveling around the lake with the good guide and the nice boat trip to check out the pelicans was an exciting experience

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Even though the trip was perfect in all ways the experience can be even better when you manage to hit the exact bird migration peak (Spring time).

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

The vacation had a 'local' feel and it gave me a nice experience to talk to the local people. The birding tourists are the main visitors in the Kerkini region so yes the local people definitely benefit from it even though it is still a relatively unknown area to many people. There is potential for more. I hope that a part of the money i spent in this vacation reaches the right people who are trying to reduce the environmental impact and support the conservation. The mindset of the people in Greece towards the environment has room for improvement: i noticed that there is a lot of garbage around the Kerkini lake for example.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

From 0 -10 an 8.
