1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

A really difficult question to answer, but probably the support we got from the trip guides on actually achieving the final 4km swim on the last day( and in fact throughout the trip). As a novice open water swimmer to be able to swim in the wilds with the knowledge you are in safe hands is very exciting, refreshing and definitely reassuring.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

If you like being outdoors and swimming BOOK NOW! Be prepared for 3 full on days, action packed with swimming and some walking.. no lie-ins on this trip but 7.45am is the earliest start time. If you are a novice, and if you have one, do take your wet suit with you even if you think you will be warm enough. I often swim in the UK sea without a wetsuit but had not done the distances all in one go before so the first day (4k in total) was hard on my arms. I used my wetsuit for the remainder of the trip not for warmth as the water temperature was a joy, but for the buoyancy and support it gave me... The guests are put into 3-4 groups depending on the speed of swimmer you are - there is NO pressure from anyone to swim faster, slower etc: it is very much YOUR trip and you will be encouraged to get from it what you need yourself, after all, we are all different!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely, this trip is run by a Slovenian family who have a great deal of knowledge in their area. We always ate at small locally owned restaurants and were readily advised that "plastic water" (ie shop bought water in plastic bottles )was not needed in Slovenia as the water was so pure! They only used electric boats and canoes - no horrid diesel engines in these pristine waters.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Beautiful scenery, fabulously clean water, awesome organisation and inspiring people both guest and guides, I will do another trip with the same company again as soon as I can.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

Completing the Lake Bled swim. I''m not the greatest swimmer and the youngsters finished almost half an hour before me but the feeling you get when you finish the swim is out of this world. I walked back to the rendezvous with the biggest smile ever on my face. Everyone is just so good and no-one gets cross if you are slow. All everyone wants, vacationmakers and staff, is that you have a really enjoyable swim.

2. What tips would you give other travelers booking this vacation?

Buy a Robbie, my pal Victoria had one for changing and we all looked on with envy!

3. Did you feel that your vacation benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Definitely. We spend money in local restaurants and it is very environmentally friendly, even the patrol boat has a battery powered engine so very quiet and no exhaust or fuel to spill.

4. Finally, how would you rate your vacation overall?

Brilliant, I will go again providing they are prepared to out up with my lack of speed. I really fancy the Costion sea trip. A superb vacation and I promise you won't think about work once.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your vacation?

The swimming vacation was absolutely amazing and I feel super fortunate to have won it. I have always been a reluctant swimmer and generally avoided it. Having won the vacation it pushed me to have a few swimming lessons so I could at least swim with my face in the water etc! I took an old school friend with me and we loved it. Slovenia is a most beautiful country. The landscape is superb and the lakes we swam in were clear and magical. the team were brilliant and did all they can to ensure everyone got the most out of the vacation. An added bonus was swimming with the World Record Marathon swimmer Martin Strel who has swum all over the world including full lengths of the Amazon, the Ganjes, the Mississippi etc etc. Overall it was an inspirational vacation that has made me want to do more. I will certainly try to do another trip and I may even brave the cold UK waters and do some here! I would highly recommend it to anyone and am very grateful to have won.
