Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

We are promoting the ancient heritage and natural landscape of Jordan through visiting Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sites are chosen by the UNESCO committee and must "bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to civilisation", "an important interchange of human values" or be outstanding examples of major stages of Earth's history or ecological and biological processes in evolution.
We attempt to reduce plastic bottle use wherever possible by promoting use of reusable and filtered water bottles. Our partnership with Water-To-Go provides a discount on filtered water bottles to our clients. We do not provide water from plastic bottles to our clients in country but always ensure there is regular access to drinking water on our tours.
The Impacts of this Trip
You will be staying a property at Aijoun that is part of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature's WIld Jordan project. The projects revenue contributes to the sustainability of RSCN’s protected areas and supports the socio economic development of local communities. The property has been designed to protect the culture and community of Aijoun and also provides the chance to at a home-cooked meal with a local resident in their home, who can also teach how to cook the meals. The best way to share stories and meet new people is over a plate of great food and a glass in hand. Supporting the local food industry in Jordan not only maintains the cultural identity of Jordan but connects cultures through the most ancient of pastimes, eating!
In Jordan we use local ground handlers who in turn book locally run hotels, providing employment for a number of members of staff and support families. The ground handlers also use local drivers and guides at the sites – our clients are taken to family run restaurants. This means that all the operational costs go directly into the local economy. For example, in Madaba you will visit a neighbourhood handicraft cooperative, displaying the ancient art of creating mosaics. You will take part in a mosaic workshop before having the opportunity to purchase arts and crafts directly from resident artists ensuring that money goes directly into the community.
