Description of Dive tour in Indonesia, Bali & Komodo
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetBoth resorts we stay in on this trip are family operated using traditional style building methods which have minimal impact on the local environment. Komodo Resort rooms are made in teak wood that either has been recycled or comes from controlled plantation whilst Bali cottages uses locally produced materials in keeping with the surrounding environment.
Part of your vacation cost is paid as a conservation and marine park fees which contributes to the protection of local wildlife, we'll also provide in depth briefings and enforce principles on how to view wildlife above and below the surface in order that we can reduce the impact of our visit as much as possible.
In terms of consumption we aim to limit the amount of plastic and waste products used whilst on tour - refilling bottled water is highly encouraged, we make a local donation of £15 per original bottle returned at the end of each tour (i.e tour members have only used one bottle for the entire trip). We also encourage tour members to limit their usage of shampoos, laundry and cosmetic/cleaning products during the tour.
PeopleWe are using a number of local partners which not only helps us to create a special kind of experience it also benefits local communities directly. During our time on Bali we'll be eating at different local restaurants rather than confining ourselves to the resort for meal times. We will also visit local markets and may buy curios and fruit etc form locals.
Local dive guides and land tour guides will be used throughout the tour and both resorts encourage employment and train people from the surrounding communities. Transfers and connections are managed by small local operators ensuring an even distribution of funds are directly benefits local communities. Particular emphasis is placed upon employing local diving staff from the fishing industry.
We also encourage tour members to 'buy responsibly' at local markets and Warungs (family owned shops). Traveling in small groups enables us to limit our impact in more remote and culturally sensitive regions throughout the tour, particularly in Komodo regions where lifestyle tends to be more primitive.
