Christmas markets vacation in Sweden

All our trips are about enjoying and experiencing the natural and cultural beauty of the region, in a respectful and considerate way. Our trips are only run with small groups, most often from two people to four people, to ensure that impact on the environment is a minimum at all times, and the most personal and rich experience can be had by all.

We are a member of the Svenska Ekoturismföreningen (Swedish Ecotourism Association) which works towards an improved tourism which protects and takes responsibility for our delicate natural and cultural environment. Our company beliefs reflect this vision.

Our trip includes trips to local Christmas markets, for example at Sigtuna and Skansen, where many of the exhibitors are from the local area and display their local handicrafts made from textile, wood, ceramic and wool. Skansen Christmas market has been a long tradition since the early 1900s and is also a setting where the visitor also learns about Swedish Christmas traditions.

The Christmas buffet at Vaxholms Kastell is KRAV-labelled (KRAV-labelled food is organically produced without artificial chemical pesticides and without artificial fertilizer) and includes as much locally sourced produce as possible, including cheese from Ostmakeriet (cheese maker) in Rindö and beer from Waxholms Bryggeri (brewery).

The trip makes use of the public transport system and the day trip to Sigtuna uses the local buses and trains. We also use the Strömma boat company for the boat trip to and from Waxholms Kastell which is actively working to reduce fuel consumption on their boats by streamlining timetables, running the boats at optimised speed and adjusting the boat size to fit passenger numbers.

We take responsibility of ensuring that rubbish is handled accordingly. Both in the countryside and in the office, with a developed sorting system. Use of paper is spared with all marketing made online to avoid the production of own brochures. Travelers are encouraged to recycle as much literature as possible that they are provided with at the start of the trip.

People

We wholeheartedly support the local economy - our guests want to experience the genuine region in which they are traveling, and our aim is to let it be seen and enjoyed.

Encounters with the locals is a fundamental aspect of our trips, and we therefore make all efforts to use suppliers from the area. With this aim in mind, we include visits to local Christmas markets such as Sigtuna where many of the exhibitors are from the local area and display their local handicrafts made from textile, wood, ceramic and wool.

We prefer to use accommodation that is smaller and more personal which allows an insight into the local community. In Stockholm we use a privately owned boutique hotel chain with just 4 hotels in different parts of Stockholm. Each hotel has its own individual character and personal charm.

Travelers are encouraged to visit or take guided tours, and all opening times of sites, shops, facilities are indicated to allow the traveler the opportunity to maximise their visit.

Our trips would quite simply not be the same without the support of the local community.
