Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

One of the main issues in China is the use of endangered species not only for food but also in the making of Chinese medicine. We ask our guides to be aware of this and to explain some of the issues to our guests. On a practical level the guides will ask guests to avoid restaurants that condone the selling of endangered species.
Where possible we suggest low carbon forms of transport in China, in particular the use of long distance trains rather than flights. Whilst a flight is sometimes necessary, trains can often be an enjoyable, responsible (and economical!) alternative.
The Impacts of this Trip
Whilst in China our guides are expected to provide travelers with a detailed insight into the way of life in China. This is of interest to travelers of all ages and if people want to we can try to arrange a visit to a school or village to show our clients the kind of lifestyle enjoyed by children and adults alike in China.
Our guides are always Chinese and from the local area. This not only ensures that they know the out of the way places that will be of interest to travelers (great local restaurants, smaller hidden temples etc) but also ensures that tourist money is kept 'close to home'.
Similarly, we try wherever possible to use small family run hotels where the welcome is warm and in which employees are generally sourced from nearby towns and villages.
All of our tours in China are run in conjunction with a local partner which is owned and run by local people.
