Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.

Planet

This tour takes you to Bhutan and North East India, where the environment is fragile and pristine. Our ground handlers including our guides, drivers and also our accommodation providers understand this quite well and environment sustainability is a guiding principle.

You will visit Kaziranga National Park, home to two thirds of the endangered One Horned Rhino population and witness the success of conservation efforts in the park. The jeep rides that you take in the park directly contribute to the conservation of not only the One Horned Rhino but also elephants, tigers and also other animals in the park.

A visit to Majuli, the largest river island in the world will make you aware how this island is threatened by climate changes resulting in massive loss of landmass. This is an island with scarce resources and our guests are advised to ration the use of water.

Our visit to Cherrapunjee takes you to sacred forests that are conserved by the communities and our guests are advised not to disturb any form of life and any kind of litter is frowned upon.

People

In the entire trip, we use locally owned or family run accommodation, use local guides and in most of the places, the food prepared comes directly from the kitchen gardens and farms of the locals.

Our efforts are directed at developing positive attitudes between the tourists and the hosts by learning about the cultures and traditions of each other, reducing negative perceptions and stereotypes, developing pride, appreciation, understanding and respect and tolerance for each other’s culture.

We support local craftsmen in Majuli by encouraging visits to the craft centers.

The locals are educated about what to expect with the arrival of tourists, while taking care that it is not at all intrusive and only where the locals agree to participate. Likewise, tourists are briefed about the people and local cultures and traditions. This in a way also helps preserve the local traditions and handicrafts, which would over a period of time be extinct.
