Carbon reduction

Your vacation will help support local people and conservation. We must also reduce CO2. Learn about the CO2 emissions of this vacation and how to reduce them.

Environment

Through tourism, the local communities and organisations we work with are able to maintain their traditional way of life whilst preserving their land and local ecosystems. We work with a number of local communities, networks and organisations committed to environmental conservation. For example we work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Environment and a community of Glass boats owners in Aqaba where we have worked on a project to contribute to safeguarding the environment. The project also joined other partners in equipping a new repair facility to ensure chemicals and paints used in boat repairs and upgrades do not seep into the sea water, as was the case in the past.

For our tours we give priority to public transport (where available) and optimise the itineraries to reduce the carbon footprint. We ensure that each tour we organise makes a contribution to preserving the Amazon rainforest.

Activities in rural areas respect the environment and are designed for a low volume of participants. For example, activities in Shawmari reserve and Azraq wetland are designed in which the small groups are well educated through our guides about the uniquely precious oasis located in the heart of Jordan’s eastern desert, between a limestone desert in the west and a basalt desert in the east as a major station for migratory birds on the African-Eurasian flyway. The Azraq wetland is the only oasis in the Arabian Desert with a self-replenishing system that has allowed it to sustain itself throughout the years.

In the cities we give priority to eco-friendly, family-run properties, restaurants and boutique hotels.

At our working space we minimise the use of any printed marketing materials when we have to meet partners outside. We also purchase stationery made of recycled materials wherever possible, etc.

Community

We are selling community-based and ecotourism tours. We work directly with local communities and foundations such as the Jordan River foundation, a socio-economic project for women and the Bani Hamida Project.

From the very beginning, fair trade principles have been at the core of our social business model. Travelers pay a fair price for the high quality and unique products and services they receive from the many community-based organisations we work with. And we ensure that as much money as possible remains in the local economy by using local suppliers, local food, and family owned accommodation or homestays.

The local communities and organisations we work with are redistributing income from tourism to create decent jobs and implement sustainable, long-lasting solutions to the problems they face. Tourism is a complementary source of income that they use to improve their standard of living and to preserve their culture and environment.

We provide authentic, experience-rich vacations to responsible and discerning travelers. Through our community-based ecotourism initiatives such as Ghor al Mazra’a initiative, our travelers come into direct contact with local people, in a low-volume way, based on mutual respect where they can participate in tomato picking, farming and experience olive harvesting. They eat traditional, natural food and take part in cultural and ecotourism activities.

Definitely go to Jordan, and give yourself time to explore.
