Responsible tourism
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we screen every trip so you can travel knowing your vacation will help support conservation and local people.

The guides are local and have an inbuilt, natural respect for their environment, wildlife and fellow people, but we have a policy of ensuring our impact is as limited as possible, both in terms of the vehicle impact and the visitor waste. The routes are agreed with the Authorities and off-road drives are along approved paths. Some of these areas are renowned to be very busy with tourists and so we have included some areas that are away from the tourist routes. However, we do not fully avoid busy areas and we are respectful of the number of vehicles for instance that gather to see certain animals and ensure we do not "crowd" the wildlife. There are also strict codes of practice set by the Game Wardens in how to conduct yourself as guides/visitors in the Parks and we follow these with vigour.
We also work with accommodation providers to ensure their environmental policies are of an acceptable standard. The tented camps and lodges you stay in are all sensitive to the environment, limiting guest numbers and using solar panels and renewable means of energy production where possible.
We review each trip after it has been completed to check the activity and also see what we could improve. We also work with accommodation providers to ensure their environmental policies are of an acceptable standard.
The Impacts of this Trip
Our partner in Tanzania delivering this programme is wholly owned by Tanzanian Nationals and employs local people. It then works with individual guides or hosts in the tribal villages, who can give local knowledge and be the contact between the visitor and the local people.
This experience is an insight into the Maasai and Hadzabe people, the former of which have been subject to over-commercialisation. This programme aims to amend that and allow these people to welcome you on their own terms with a guide and spend time with them to understand their lifestyle, heritage and beliefs.
You have the opportunity to buy some local produce which will support their livelihoods. We ensure that this is done in an ethical way to provide a useful source of income for the people, without introducing any detrimental influence of over commercialisation.
These experiences are designed to offer a greater cross-cultural understanding between the local culture and the visitor, by promoting genuine contact within an enjoyable vacation experience. We are working with our local partner to deliver a unique set of enjoyable and inspiring cultural insights for the visitor. We hope you will come home refreshed, inspired, with memories and a greater understanding of another culture that may even have an influence on your way of living back home.
We have not identified a local charity to support yet so we will donate a proportion of the income we receive to an international charity of choice, which at this time is Wateraid.
