Description of Lima to Cusco Peru tour
This trip can be tailor made throughout the year to suit your requirements
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) vacation so that you can travel knowing it will help support the places and people that you visit, and the planet. Read how below.
PlanetOn our Andean Treasures vacation we take great care to preserve the environment in the areas you will be visiting. By traveling overland from Arequipa to Puno, and from Puno to Cusco, (in shared or public transport where possible) you will reduce the domestic flights needed to get around the country and lower the carbon footprint of your trip.
We are proud to support our local operator in Arequipa in annual clean-up and reforestation campaigns. We provide responsible travel guidelines to all our travelers with advice on how they can help to preserve the environments they are visiting – recycling containers are available on tour buses in the Colca Canyon and in hotels in Arequipa and Colca.
The hotel in the Colca Canyon has been built in harmony with the environment in a way to minimise interference with the natural surroundings. Only local materials (stone, earth and straw) have been used in the construction of the hotel and natural hot springs on site.
PeopleWe work with local operators and accommodation owners who share our commitment to responsible travel wherever possible. We work with different local operators in each destination to fairly distribute income from tourism.
We are respectful towards the communities that we will take you to visit, and you will always be accompanied by a local guide. The family run tour operator you will travel with in the Colca Canyon recently organised and financed the restoration of the public library in the village of Corporaque, so that the wider community benefits from tourism, not just those directly involved.
Our local operator in Cusco is owned and run by a local family who take pride in employing local people and in giving back to the wider community. On this tour you will visit the workshops of local artisans in the Sacred Valley where you will learn about traditional weaving and silver smith techniques and have the opportunity to buy handicrafts direct from the artisans who make them.
